We Honor Veterans is a national hospice provider awareness campaign conducted by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).  NHPCO is actively supporting the campaign and providing resources for hospices to participate.

There are five levels an organization can achieve in the We Honor Veterans partnership.

Georgia Mountains Hospice has completed their Level Five partnership, and joins only a few other hospices in the state of Georgia. “We Honor Veterans” is a national hospice provider awareness campaign conducted by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Of 2.4 million deaths in the United States each year, approximately 680,000 are Veterans, who are not enrolled in VA and may not be aware of end-of-life services and benefits available to them, including the Medicare Hospice Benefit and VA-paid hospice care. Through this campaign Georgia Mountains Hospice will be better prepared to offer resources and support to our Veterans.

Georgia Mountains Hospice is one of the few hospices on a preferred list with the VA in the state of Georgia and with the completion of this Partnership continue with our efforts to focus on the needs, desires, and treatment of our Veterans. By completing Level Four of this Partnership, Georgia Mountains Hospice lets Veterans know we have made a commitment to offer veteran-specific care and services provided by a competent and highly skilled workforce.

Georgia Mountains Hospice is your local nonprofit hospice organization specializing in the care of terminally ill patients in their homes, assisted living facilities or nursing homes. In September of 2023 we will celebrate 30 years of caring for patients and their families in north Georgia.
